July 13, 2026

July 13, 2026, Osaka, Japan - Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka City, Osaka; hereinafter Santen) and KYORIN Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter KYORIN) today announced the conclusion of an agreement for joint marketing in Japan of Alesion® eyelid cream 0.5%, (generic name: epinastine hydrochloride, hereinafter Alesion® Cream), a long-acting treatment for allergic conjunctivitis.

Alesion® Cream is a treatment for allergic conjunctivitis developed by Santen with the aim of improving patient adherence and reducing treatment burden compared with conventional anti-allergic eye drops. As a cream formulation applied once daily to the periocular area (upper and lower eyelids), it has been marketed in Japan since May 22, 2024. Under the agreement, Santen will continue to be responsible for manufacturing, product distribution, and detailing for medical institutions specializing in the field of ophthalmology, with KYORIN handling detailing for medical institutions outside this field from around August 2026.

The two partners--KYORIN, with expertise in allergic diseases and a strong sales and marketing platform in the respiratory and otolaryngology fields, and Santen, a company specialized in ophthalmology, expect the joint marketing agreement to enable them to deliver Alesion® Cream, a new treatment option for allergic conjunctivitis, to as many patients as possible, thereby contributing to improved patient quality of life (QOL).
